D.I.Y Geometric Wall

Some of you may know I also own a clothing store called IGLOU. We recently moved the shop in Orange to a new location which gave me the opportunity to experiment with some D.I.Y projects.

Top of my list was painting a wall in a colourful geometric pattern. I had been seeing clever ideas on Pinterest and I've attached some of the images that inspired me. I always say that painting a wall is a quick and affordable way to change the feel of a space and if you don't like it you can always paint over it! Scroll down for my step by step guide.

Before I started I knew I had to clean the walls. I discovered this amazing product - sugar soap wipes - just like baby wipes but for cleaning the walls. They worked a treat and had the walls prepped for painting in no time.

It was a little tricky getting my head around the angles and the maths! They are all right angles! I started with an image of a geometric pattern I liked and then I roped in my handy husband; armed with his tape measure and spirit level, to draw the lines on the wall.

I then carefully stuck on the painters tape - which is the fantastic tape you can paint over and later peel off to reveal crisp straight lines. I placed my tape just next to my pencil lines so the paint would cover the pencil lines and I wouldn't have to erase them later.

I painted one colour at a time, following the picture and plan I had created prior to starting. I started with darker tones in one corner, blues and greens and then moved to pinks and peachy tones in the opposite corner.

The wall with the painters tape still attached. I was taking very deep breaths here, petrified I may rip off half the paint with the tape - but it all worked perfectly!

I actually found the painting quite relaxing!

My first look at the wall after taking the tape off.

I then decided to continue the pattern onto the next wall and it really works

After finishing we added some faux floral installations and the two complemented each other so perfectly.
