Our 2021 ART SUPERSTAR!

We are so excited to introduce you to this year's JUMBLED Art Superstar! We were completely blown away by how clever/amazing/beautiful/joyful each application was! We are just so lucky to be surrounded by such a talented art community.

Picking a winner was insanely challenging, but this year the crown goes to Mia Pensa(@miapensa)!!!

Mia is a self-taught artist - who is only 18 years old! She has felt drawn to all things creative for as long as she can remember, experimenting with many mediums over the years, including ceramics, working with textiles and digital art. Mia's influences range from vintage textiles to eastern ceramics and very often looks to the work of her fellow Australian creatives for inspiring palettes, patterns & textures that speak to her. We are so thrilled to welcome Mia into the JUMBLED Art Gang - and can't wait to share her work with you over the year!

When did your love of art begin?

Although I have enjoyed all things art for as long as I can remember, I think I fell in love with art once I had left school and had the time and space to paint and create everyday. Through lots of experimentation in different mediums and styles, I’m so grateful to have ultimately turned it into a full time gig!

Where do you draw your inspiration from?

I’m in complete adoration of vintage morroccan rugs and textiles and love to include them in my work. I am also very inspired by my fellow Australian artists and so I am constantly on the lookout for colour palettes, patterns and textures to inspire my next painting.

What does your average day look like?

I always start my day with a bagel and strong iced coffee while I respond to any messages and check Instagram. I’ll likely scroll through tiktok too (can’t help it!) Then with my assistant in tow (my gorgeous staffy child, named Brooks) I head to my studio and paint for around 4-5 hours. Music or a TV show in the background is a must! I will then take a longer break for lunch/dinner and walk Brooks before painting for a few more hours until it’s time for bed :)

When are you at your happiest?

I think I’m at my happiest when it’s time to add those final touches to each painting. I work from my home studio where I live with my family but if the house is empty, I’ll blast my favourite music while I finish off my work. If it’s a painting I’m especially happy with then that’s definitely a little ritual that I look forward to! :)

What are you most looking forward to now that you are the 2021 Jumbled Art Superstar?

I always visit the jumbled Instagram and website for inspiration, in awe of the collection of artists and their talent so I’m just ecstatic to be a part of that and to join the Jumbled gang.
